Security & Privacy

We realise that some people are unsure about entering their personal details into web sites over the internet. Below, we explain how we protect your privacy and how we use your information.

All information we collect from you is gathered when you are on our secure server. The secure server, which is signed by Verisign, means that information is transferred securely between your computer and the DiscountHotels server and that no third parties can intercept and read or use the data. The padlock symbol on your browser indicates you are on a secure server.

To Check Our Site's Security Status:

When you click to confirm your booking on the confirmation page displaying your chosen accommodation you will be transferred to our secure server. Look at the site's URL in your browser window. You will see an "s" added to the familiar "http" (to make "https"). This indicates that SSL is in effect for the current page.
  • In Netscape Navigator 3.0 and earlier, the broken key symbol in the lower-left corner of your browser window becomes solid when you are in secure mode.
  • In Netscape Communicator 4.0 and 4.5, the padlock symbol in the corner, usually open, is closed in secure mode.
  • In Internet Explorer 5.0, a closed padlock appears when you are in secure mode.
  • If you're about to send information to a site that's not using SSL, your browser will warn you first. SSL protects your communications during transmission. Because of the authentication involved, secure servers are slower than the regular server for delivering files. Therefore SSL is only used when transmitting sensitive information across the web.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We only use your e-mail address to send you a confirmation of your bookings or to contact you for any reason directly linked to your reservation. We only use your phone number to contact you urgently if there is a problem with your booking.

We never give or sell your personal details to any third parties, other than to the hotel which you booked, or if we are legally required to do so. On occasions, we may supply statistics about our customers to third-parties such as hotels or other agents. These statistics never contain personally identifying information.
